The current structure was built in the 19th century; the original building from the 16th century was demolished. The original structure was home to a famous Renaissance-publishing house, owned by Mr. Melantrich, hence the name Melantrichova Street. This is an ideal place to stay if you wish to explore Prague by foot as all of Prague’s main attractions are within a comfortable walking distance from the building.
