All Aboard! The Future of the Vysehrad Train Station
DNS reported recently that the historical Vysehrad train station may be transformed into the new must-have property for investors.
This dilapidated diamond in the rough was built in 1905 and was a lively transportation hub until 1960. Since then this lovely old building has passed into obscurity becoming almost a ruin forgotten by time until 1980, when the station underwent a renovation that unfortunately had disastrous effects. Vysehrad train station has been falling apart rapidly ever since. Despite it's derelict facade and interior it still casts a magical spell on many inhabitants of Prague. This old treasure captures the splendid grandeur of old Europe and that is exactly why the building was named a cultural monument in 2001.
The new plan envisions a cultural center with offices and shops, two commercial buildings will be added as well. Omikron-K architectural studio of Martin Kotik is currently working on the overdue project. < back
