Designblok 09

It’s that time again for the largest and most exciting social event in Prague, Designblok 09! Designblok is the annual weeklong exhibition of new pieces from the fabulous, sleek and sometimes strange world of design.

The 11th Designblok will take place in various venues including showrooms, galleries and boutiques throughout the city of Prague from October 6th-October 11th. This year yields an impressive 212 unique exhibitions and presentations (including the Flying Coal-Scuttle (a coal-scuttle transformed into a tin chair) by Daniel Pošta, plus Jakub Polanka’s new fashion collection titled Body as Architecture) at 63 venues, perhaps last year’s attendance count of over 30,000 will be exceeded as well. This year's Designblok will also boast a higher ratio of Czech designers than usual. A new collection of the traditional Czech Botas sneakers designed by Jan Klos and Jakub Korous will be exhibited. You will also be able to see new models from the traditional Czech clock and watch making company Prim designed by the Olgoj Chorchoj studio.

An accompanying program including the presentation of designers, studios and special projects can be found at the two Superstudios of Designblok located at Jankovcova 49, Praha 7 and Holešovický pivovar; U průhonu 13, Praha 7. Opening times are 10:00 a.m. - 21:00 p.m. Tickets are 150 Kč (students 100 Kč) and allow multiple entrances to both Superstudios.
