Location:
The building is located in the very heart of one of the oldest and most impressive parts of Prague, Malá Strana, the Lesser Town. The prestigious area is home to the Prague Castle, numerous aristocratic palaces as well as plenty of major Prague sights such as St. Nicholas Cathedral and Charles Bridge, to name a few. The location is very quiet offering relaxation in the nearby Wallenstein Gardens or romantic strolls in the Prague Castle complex and the lush Petřín Hill.
History
The first mention of the „House at the Turk’s Head“ dates back to1415. After several changes in the ownership of the building and two disastrous fires in Malá Strana, the building is mentioned again in 1586, a magical year as the majestic court of Rudolf II resettled in Prague, when registration of the local real estate took place. At that time the house was owned by a rich textiles supplier Michel Langrand De Bourgogne who had it completely refurbished. The next reference comes from 1653 and it mentions a luxurious burgher house. About 20 years later the house came into the ownership of the famed Baroque painter Petr Brandl. Another prominent owner was the leading Prague architect Josef Fanta. In 1992, after the state expropriation, the building was returned in restitution to the original owners and then sold to the present owner.
Reconstruction
The building underwent a complete reconstruction starting in 2006 with meticulous restoration and preservation of period details including painted wood beams, frescos and plastering. The interiors were equipped with replicas of original wooden doors and windows, quality oak parquet floors, and natural marble in bathrooms.
Apartments
The building features 4 unique apartments. The lower ground floor is occupied by a one-bedroom apartment with stone vaulted ceilings, the first floor by a two-bedroom apartment with 2 bathrooms. On the second floor is a three-bedroom apartment with a balcony. The top two floors hold an amazing penthouse with 5 bedrooms and 2 terraces. All the apartments are air-conditioned and the number of bedrooms matches the number of bathrooms.
